About Me

Johnny EakerAfter co-owning a successful award-winning photography and videography studio, I ventured out on my own to create what you see before you today.  I am very much about creating real images that evoke emotion and feeling.

The word photojournalist gets thrown around a lot these days but  I do consider myself a wedding photojournalist as most of what I do is not directed or posed.  Yes we still devote 30 – 45 minutes of the wedding day getting the “posey” photographs with family and friends but I take great pride in creating timeless images for my clients differently than “traditional” photographers.

As a wedding photojournalist I am constantly trying to put myself in the right place at the right time to anticipate those great moments that occur during the wedding day. The look a father may give during the first dance. The fun a bride and her maid of honor are having during the bridal preparations. Or the love in the eyes of the bride and groom during the ceremony. These are all real moments that cannot be captured during the photo session at the alter. These are the photographs that will tell a story years after the event. This is what I love to do and I am blessed with the trust my clients instill in me.

I have also found a new passion in photographing children where I can employ the same philosophy of being an observer and telling a story with my images. My goal when photographing children is to bring out their true spirit and capture “them” at this key moment in their lives. I don’t believe in using many props when photographing children (but I do believe that a cute hat can make all the difference in the world!) and I photograph on location in client’s homes or all over Central Missouri.

My technical training is 100% self taught. I began as a videographer which I believe allows me to see events unfold before me in a unique perspective. I believe in finding great light and great images will follow.

Now the million dollar question – What is with the J Andrew name?
It is short for Johnny Andrew Eaker. No big secrets or mystery there. I wanted a name that incorporated who I am and what I do.

I only accept a limited number of weddings each year (usually 12-15) to give me the opportunity to focus on my clients and my  family.  So if you are loving the work, I encourage you to contact me for a consultation.

I do own a video production company in which I still do freelance editing. If you are in the market for wedding video or any type of video production/multimedia services – check out www.image1video.com
